Scott International PRC 1949-1972 The Embargo Years

An embargo kept stamps of the Peoples Republic of China out of the albums of U.S. collectors until the mid-1970s, and Scott did not include the embargoed issues in the International Album. Once the embargo lifted the prices of a great many mint, never-hinged sets and souvenir sheets issued by the Peoples Republic of China from 1949 to 1980 increased 500 percent and became an important segment of International Collections.

With the lifting of the embargo, Scott supplemented the International Album with pages to include PRC issues of 1949-1979
