Stamps Issues of The Republic of China - Taiwan
China-ROC is a Sovereign country located on the island of Taiwan . The Republic of China has its origins on the Chinese mainland during the period 1911-1949 during which an attempt was made to establish a unified nation, but internal turmoil (warlordism, civil war) and external challenge (Japanese aggression) was followed by the rise of the Communist movement under Mao, who succeeded in unifying the mainland. The remnants of the Nationalist Movement established an independent country on Taiwan in 1950 and began issuance of postage stamps, which Scott lists as #1007-1011. Issues prior to #1007 are listed as China.
iHobb.com lists as separate categories the stamps of China pre-1949, the stamps of the Republic of China (ROC), the stamps of the Peoples Republic of China, and the issues of Hong Kong under both British and PRC sovereignty.
